SEAN MAHONEY

is a musical theater writer, guitarist, and DJ based in Telluride, Colorado. He holds an MFA in Musical Theater Writing from NYU-Tisch School Of The Arts and a BA from UNH. As a songwriter, his work has been performed at Joe’s Pub, 54 Below, Birdland, Ars Nova, Merkin Hall, Bruno Walter Library at Lincoln Center, and Symphony Space. Shows include FACTORY GIRLS (with Creighton Irons) NAMT 2009, Japan 2019, 2023; Prep School Musical (with Sam Forman) Sweetwater (with Patricia Noonan) NAMT Songwriter Showcase, 2018, The Invincible Three – The Origin of Butch Cassidy (book, music, and lyrics).

INSPIRATION

As lifelong tennis players and former ballkids for two professional tournaments, we thought the concept of an 80’s international tennis tournament would be fertile and fun for a musical comedy. The show features a confluence of star players, struggling tour veterans, financiers, volunteers, and fans thrown together in a bucolic mountain town -- a town that is struggling to hang on to a tournament as sweeping changes in the sport threaten its existence, all while love and life lessons swirl in the summer heat of competition.

JIM MAHONEY

is an educator, songwriter, and essayist. He teaches English and creative writing in Minneapolis, and previously served as head tennis and squash coach at St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire. Jim is the founder, producer and co-host of Morningside After Dark, a songwriting and storytelling series in its ninth year. Credits include The Mahoneys (album) and writing playing rock music in bands in NH, MA and MN. He earned a BA in English from Dartmouth College.
