The Goel Center for Theater and Dance, Phillips Exeter Academy
BALLBOYS, a new 1980s tennis comedy musical, comes to the Goel Center for Theater and Dance on the campus of Phillips Exeter Academy as a showcase concert reading on Thursday, September 17 at 7 PM.
This all-original musical grew in part from the experience of James Mahoney (Book & Lyrics) as a low-level ballboy at the Volvo International Tennis Tournament in North Conway, NH. Along with David Salmela (Music) and director CJ Lewis, the show features live music from acclaimed theater performers and a five-piece band.
With big laughs, 1980s nostalgia, romantic and tennis rivalries, and plenty of New Hampshire heart, this showcase concert reading offers the Seacoast a first look at a new musical following several years of development in Minneapolis, MN.
Come help welcome BALLBOYS to New Hampshire! This is a free event, open to the Academy community and the public. (Please RSVP if you will be visiting campus for this show.)

BALLBOYS Concert Reading and Party at Theater in the Wood
BALLBOYS, a new tennis comedy musical, comes to the Theater in the Wood for its debut in the Mount Washington Valley in the form of a concert reading on Saturday, September 19 at 4:00 PM.
Inspired by the real Volvo International Tennis Tournament and the unforgettable summers it brought to the Mount Washington Valley, BALLBOYS will appeal to anyone who volunteered, attended matches, chased autographs, worked concessions, served as a ballkid, or languished in endless Route 16 traffic.
This all-original musical was inspired by the experience of James Mahoney (Book & Lyrics) as a low-level Volvo ballboy. Along with David Salmela (Music) and director CJ Lewis, the show features singing from acclaimed New England theater performers and a five-piece band.
Enjoy big laughs, fun music, revelations and rivalries, tennis humor, and plenty of New Hampshire heart. Come out and help welcome BALLBOYS to the Valley! (80's tennis outfits and attitudes encouraged.)
